‘The Spiffing Brit’

I have been the lead producer and editor for the comedy-come-gaming channel ‘The Spiffing Brit’ (4 million subscribers) since 2021.

Each video typically receives over 1 million views with 30 days. I have edited over 80 videos and produced well over 200 thumbnails since I started.

My focus has been on upping production quality, visual interest and pacing for the videos. Our retention has increased and we have grown by 2 million+ subscribers and secured 350 million views since 2021.

As part of my work for the channel, I redefined our production process. With regular content and planning meetings, a firm review process and style checklists, we increased the quality and consistency of our videos. Team culture improved too, with a more collaboration between the team.

Twice a year, we also do a ‘thumbnail audit’ - replacing at least 50 thumbnails from the back catalogue. Following this, some videos jumped from 1 million views to 2 million views in a month. With a large audience, this ‘second bite of the cherry’ proved immensely productive, with spill-over views to the channel as a whole.

‘Best Play’

I partnered with Joel Windels and Glenn White to launch a board game media brand in 2017.

We aimed to de-mystify the often hard-to-understand world of tabletop board game by providing short, friendly explainers and recommendations.

We operated across all different platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube - TikTok wasn’t around then) and ran a weekly podcast.

The project is paused for now, but we still receive tens of thousands of views and dozens of kind comments.
